It’s the number one question we hear: “How long before I can walk on it?”
Short answer: most of the time, your carpet is dry to the touch before we leave. Fully dry within 6–12 hours.
Here’s what actually affects dry time — and what we do to speed it up.
Why some carpets dry faster than others
How dirty it was. Heavily soiled carpet needs more water to clean, which means more drying time. A maintenance clean dries faster than a deep restorative clean.
Airflow. This is the big one. Still air = slow drying. Moving air = fast drying.
Temperature. Warm air holds more moisture. Keep your thermostat around 70–75°F and carpet dries noticeably faster.
Humidity. Georgia summers are humid, and humid air slows everything down. Running your AC or a dehumidifier pulls moisture out of the air and speeds drying.
What we do to get you dry faster
Truck-mounted extraction. Our equipment doesn’t just spray water in — it pulls it back out. Most of the moisture leaves with our machine.
High-powered air movers on every job. We set up air movers before we leave. They keep air circulating across the carpet so it dries evenly and fast.
We don’t over-wet. Some cleaners flood the carpet and hope for the best. We use just enough water to clean thoroughly — no more.
What you can do after we leave
- Keep the air moving. Leave ceiling fans on, or crack a window if the weather’s nice.
- Hold the thermostat at 70–75°F. In winter, run the heat. In summer, the AC doubles as a dehumidifier.
- Wear clean house shoes. Not socks, not bare feet — clean house shoes. They keep oils off the damp fibers.
- Be careful stepping onto hard floors. Damp carpet to dry hardwood or tile can be slippery. Step carefully.
- Ask about low-moisture cleaning. For maintenance cleans, we can use low-moisture methods that dry even faster. We’ll tell you when it’s the right call.
Where to go while you wait
If you’d rather get out of the house while the carpet finishes drying, here are some nearby spots:
- Kennesaw: Downtown Kennesaw — grab lunch and walk the shops
- Marietta: The Marietta Square — coffee, food, and people-watching
- Smyrna: The Battery Atlanta — plenty to do for a few hours
- Acworth: Downtown Acworth and Cauble Park by the lake
- Woodstock: Downtown Woodstock — restaurants and the Green
- Powder Springs: Thurman Springs Park
- Dallas: Downtown Dallas — antique shops and local eats
- Vinings: The Vinings Jubilee
The bottom line
Most of our customers are walking on dry carpet before we pull out of the driveway. By bedtime, it’s fully dry.
